He was a recruiter for the Army National Guard. I too respect a military service record. Whereas Tritt also has no law enforcement experience, his military record and experience is much more "practical" in a sense. Tritt has a record of effective leadership as well as fiscal responsibility. He is also very involved and highly respected in the community. I like Tritt for putting himself out there and stating where he stands on every issue that is put before him and he is not afraid to ruffle a few high-level administrative feathers to do it. Tritt has definitely done his homework and for what he does lack in experience, he seems to make up for with intelligence, integrity, compassion and common sense. Serago has no supervisory or leadership experience, has shown no work experience where he ever had to submit, maintain or balance a budget, and has no record of community service. The gang platform was a good opportune choice on a popular level. Golding really stepped in it and then put his foot in his mouth with the "Gangs have a right to exist" comment, so the anti-gang bandwagon was an easy one to jump on. I hope you get a chance to hear him speak as well, it would be very entertaining to see a debate among all these candidates, but somehow I don't see that happening. Tom is 55, Jesse is 57 but looks more like 67. Distefano is old, 67 I think. Tritt is 32. I don't know about the ladies man stuff, I've never met him. I don't know who or what he knows about the department. The idea of having a young sheriff is appealing, except when I remember Meadows was Tritt's age when he became sheriff. I don't know who or what Serago knows about the department. Tritt was spouting off all sorts of things, guys were saying "HOW did he know that??"- doing his homework, I guess. I was disappointed about Serago not being there. I hope he gets another chance to speak- Tom and Howard are putting lots of pressure on the unions for early endorsements, even before we even know who all the candidates are. He might not get another chance. The corrections union already buckled, but since Howard's daughter is the union VP, who would challenge it? Can you say, "Conflict of interest"? No, of course she won't go and tell her dad who voted not to endorse the guy who hired her dad......What a mess. He was on cruise-control until election season started. He did have a great write up in Friday's Aegis, I thought it was very favorable. He called child sex offenders "disgusting human beings". It's a start. I like it when the sheriff talks tough, especially about these wasters of oxygen. Vermin, worthless, wastes of skin, etc. would also be good in describing those dirt bags. I would have voted for Tritt before, just because he's not Golding, but he definitely scored some points with deputies last night. I don't think he hit a "home run", but he is definitely on base, and saying the right things. I think he just might be able to beat Golding after all. The DINO's have all become "Republicans." We lifers are cautious of the new "Republicans." Checking background is always a good thing. I think when people don't know either candidate they should vote Republican or not at all. In the general it is usually a safe bet because they have been through the primary process. I wrote an article on the responsibility that real Republicans that vote in the primary have. We have a responsibility to filter out the bums so the people who do not pay attention can safely vote R. Very few people actually pay attention and the burden of selecting good people falls on the few of us who do. Independenteducator,
